When you install a new application in Windows XP, by default, the program name is highlighted so that you can find it quicker. If you want to remove this option for these instructions.
Navigate to the location below in the registry.
Modify or create a new REG_DWORD value named "Start_NotifyNewApps" and set the value to 0 to disable the highlighting feature.
Key:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
Value Name: Start_NotifyNewApps
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Data:(0 = disabled, 1 = Default)
