Navigate the the location below in your registry and make the corresponding change.

Create a new DWORD value of either 'AutoShareWks' for NT Workstation or 'AutoShareServer' for NT server. To disable the shares, set the data to 0.  To re-enable the shares set this value back to 1. 

Restart Windows.
