If you didn't already know it, then we will let you in on a little secret. You can open websites from the Run command on your Start Menu. For instance, click "Start" and "Run" then type in "www.mydesktophelp.com" and your default browser should open up our homepage. However, if you were to enter "members.anything.com" or just "anything.com" in the "Run" command, you would more than likely receive a message stating: "Cannot find the file members.anything.com...." Follow the instructions below to add more flexibility to this command.
For instance, if you would like to be able to type members.anything.com and have it launch in your browser add a string value named "members" and set the value to "http://"
I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but this
should also work for ldap servers and Windows Active Directory servers and
possibly Novell Directory Servers as well. Just add "ldap" for the string
and "ldap://" as the value and it should pop open and ldap search on the server
you normally use.
Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
