Well, I fixed the problem. There were a couple of things that weren't exactly right with my set-up. First, one of the drives in the array wasn't configured as the master(I was too lazy to pull the drive cage back out and confirm the jumper setting). In fact, the jumper was telling the drive to forget everything above 30GB (This wasn't a 'new' drive). The second problem was the very poor set of instructions provided by Promise for installing this RAID capability! I'll write to them next. All the drivers were provided on the motherboard CD, but with new installations of XP, extra device drivers must be loaded via floppy disk. I ended up moving the files, but I struggled to find the tree structure on the disk that XP was happy with. Bottom Line: Problem solved! Eventually we always stumble onto a solution--sometimes with a little help from fellow stumblers. TVM
