The official word from Microsoft is "If you do not have access to a Recovery Agent's account with a valid recovery key, you cannot recover the data. There is no workaround in EFS." I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like your data may be toast. In the future, make sure the first thing to do is create a backup of that key. If you had it now, it would be easy to restore. I did come across one option that "may" work. Check: http://www.jsiinc.com/subj/tip4800/rh4864.htm It mentions a way to backup and restore the data on another machine logged on as a EFS recovery agent. Its worth a try! If you are in a domain environment, Your domain EFS recovery agent can do this too.
