Here is what I was able to find out: "NT 4.0 had the IRPStackSize set too low, resulting in odd networking behavior and error messages. The fix was to increase it to the maximum of 12 from the default of (I think) 4. Windows 2000 has it defaulted at something like 10 or 11 if memory serves, and there are far fewer problems. It's basically a communication buffer of sorts that relates to networking communications." - LockerGnome.Com
